RIVA WP Theme Documentation

Download the Package

After purchasing Riva theme please navigate to your downloads tab on Themeforest and find RIVA Theme. Click the download button next to RIVA theme and choose "All Files" and document choice, save the package on your computer.

Please unzip the downloaded ZIP File . Inside the extracted folder, you will find Folders like Documentaion , License and Upload. Inside upload you can find your main Theme Folder (RIVA) and the child Theme folder (RIVA Child)

Upload and install The Theme

When you are ready to install a theme (After unpacked the package), you must first upload the theme main folder (Riva) to your server, then you can activate the theme .The theme files can be uploaded in two different ways:

1- FTP Upload:
Using your FTP program, upload the non-zipped Riva theme folder into the "/wp-content/themes/" on your server.

2- WordPress Theme Manager:
Navigate to Appearance > Add New Themes > Upload. Go to browse, and select the zipped theme folder. Hit (Install Now) and the theme will be uploaded and installed.

Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again.

If you get a message says “Are you sure you want to do this?”, This is not a theme bug usually because a web server php setting limitation. Try to check and change your maximum file upload size to more than 8 MB , RIVA theme zip file is about 8 MB , in some cases you may also need to change increase your post_max_size as well

Once the theme is uploaded, you just need to activate . Go to WP Menu -> Appearance > Themes and activate RIVA theme.

Activate Plugins

RIVA includes 2 plugins that must be installed and activated RIVA Core and King Composer

1. RIVA Core:
RIVA Core plugin is required for the theme to work, as it contains all of the theme’s basic functionality

2. KingComposer:
To use the King Composer page builder within your home page content sections you should activate the js_composer Plugin .

3. Breadcrumb NavXT:
Adds breadcrumb functionality to your site .you should activate the breadcrumb-navxt Plugin

4. Contact Form 7:
To use contact forms in your pages you should activate it .

Demo Content Import

To Get Exactly the same content you see at RIVA Demo you have to do the following steps:

1-Import XML files

You can do that by Navigate to WP Menu -> Tools -> Import. and click on WordPress, Choose browse and select the demo xml file provided inside the Theme -> Framework folder -> Assets -> XML -> Unzip choose the demo version and click on Upload File You can select Download and Import File attachments if you want to get and install demo images Finally click Import, The importing will take a few seconds depending on your internet connection Then you should see the success message Import Content Done , Have Fun Now, the demo content installed and you are ready for the next step.

Configure Settings

1. Setting up Menu:
Navigate to Appearance > Menu. Under Menu List select primary navigation. Now click on Save Changes.

1. Setting up Permalinks:
Navigate to Settings > Permalinks. Under Common Settings select post name. Now click on Save Changes.

2. Setting up Front Page:
To set up the Frontpage, you must have page (ex. Home Page) in case you didn't import demo data please create a new one , you can do that by navigating to WP Menu > Pages > Add New. Under the page attributes section, Select "Page template as Home page Template" and Click Publish. Now browse to Settings Reading and change the setting for Front page displays from Your latest posts into A static page. As you can assign your previously created "Home Page" as the Front Page.

3. Setting up Blog:
To set up the blog, you must have page called (ex.Blog), in case you didn't import demo data please create a new one , you can do that by navigating to WP Menu > Pages > Add New. You can give this page a title of blog for now you do not have to include any content. Click Publish. Once you have created your new page, Goto Settings->Reading. Select A static page and assign the blog for Posts Page.

Getting started

To start please go to Pages > Add new. things should work as default wordpress Editor unless King Composer Page Builder is activated. IF you activated the plugin you should see Backend Editor Button Just up of the default wordpress editor else , please go to Appearance > Install Plugins section, install it and activate. To explore the capabilities of King Composer, please have a look into documentation

we added King Composer plugin and add some extra shortcodes to make things easier creating RIVA Pages.

Page Row

“Row“ is the main content element of King Composer. Rows are used to divide your page into the logic blocks with columns, columns later will hold your content blocks. Rows can be divided into the layouts (eg. 1/2 + 1/2, 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3, and so on). Your page can have unlimited number of rows. To change row's position, click and drag row's drag handler (top left row's corner) and drag row around (vertical axis). For More information for using row, please have a look into Row Setting

Text Block

“Text block“ allows you to insert paragraph type text and format it using WYSIWYG editor. Moreover text block allows adding media(images and videos).

Row Animations

Some Extra Options added to the row setting for advanced effects . as an Row animations , there are two types of animations available .default king composer animation and Riva enhanced smooth animation , you can try them the way that fit your needs

Create One Page Navigation

Setting up a one page navigation on your website takes no time. The most important thing when creating your page is adding a unique ID to each row on the page that you want one of your navigation items to link to, You can add your Row ID within the Page Row General Setting as the following Image.

Beyond the default options King Composer we included some extra Shortcodes With different options to let you build your Site Pages easily

Example : Info Box, News , Team , Services box , Portfolio , Contact box , Interaction , signature , Slider , Testimonials and More..

RIVA Options

General Settings

The theme comes packed with alot features that control the layout and extend the functionality of WordPress. You can access it by navigating to WP Menu > RIVA Options. The RIVA Options content a number of tabs each one contains many options that control the layout of chosen section

For example, General options Tab will allow you to configure your site setup. Accent Theme Color, Custom CSS, Google Analytics ..


Custom Widgets

RIVA provide an Extra Widget included in the Theme you can use to display Author information with thumbnial image

Translating The Theme

Use .mo/.po files and Poedit software

Translation files included into theme within Language Folder we recommend to use .mo/.po files. Those files works in pair so for each language you need to have 2 files with the same name but with different extension. For example if you want to translate theme into German language, you're files should be de_DE.mo and de_DE.po

For editing the PO file you need to use Poedit software . All you need to do is copy the existing .PO File , Rename it as your locale edit the new PO. File with the software , after finish translation please save and upload the new .mo/.po files into "languages" folder where theme is installed.
